Fees And Policies
To Adopt a pet we ask that you come and meet the animals we have for
adoption. The animals listd on petfinder are just a few of our
available animals. When you find one that you are interested in you may
fill out an adoption application upon approval, you can take your new
friend home today!

The adoption fees are usually between $80 and $130 for dogs, and $75 to
$100 for cats. A $50 deposit is required on pets that have not been
spayed or neutered. The prices/deposits are subject to change.
It is Iowa Law that all pets adopted from shelters are to be
spayed/neutered. If you happen to adopt one that has not yet been
spayed or neutered, you are required by law to get that animal
spayed/neutered. We will have you sign a spray/neuter contract and ask
for a $50 deposit on top of the adoption fee. You will get your $50
returned as soon as you provide the written proof from your
veterinarian that the pet has been surgically altered.
All animals adopted from the Humane Society of North Central Iowa will
reveive a free health exam from a number of veterinarians in the area.
The free health exam must be done within five days of adoption. In the
case that your veterinarian feels that the pet you adopted is not in
good healty, you may return the animal for a full refund. Otherwise,
refunds are given only under special circumstances.
All animals adopted from our Shelter will be micro-chipped, and are
eligible for one-month's free pet health insurance from ShelterCare Pet
Insurance.
We reserve the right to refuse adoptions.
