When is
a fur ball a good thing?
When
it’s the second annual Humane
Society Fur Ball “Bets for Pets!”
On
Saturday, March 27, Deb and Casey
Johnson and the wonderful folks at Fort Dodge Ford/Toyota will again be
our
hosts for the Second Annual Humane Society “Fur Ball: Bets for
Pets.” The
festivities will begin at 7 p.m. with complimentary appetizers
(courtesy of
Hy-Vee) and a cash bar; at 7:30 p.m. we’ll provide a brief
retrospective
featuring pets adopted from the Shelter in 2009 and an update on the
new
building. At 8 p.m., TNT Mobile Entertainment will provide music for
dancing,
and casino games will let you test your skill and luck. Finally, both a
live
and silent auction will be held, with some spectacular prizes to be won.
Area
businesses and individuals have
come forward to offer dozens of incredible prizes for both auctions and
to
purchase with your gambling winnings. There’s a beautiful diamond
and sterling
silver necklace from Zale’s Jewelers, a beautiful upholstered
bench from
Slumberland, a complete car detail and service from Fort Dodge
Ford/Toyota, and
a custom-built one of a kind dog house by Larry Hagey. Steve Gibson has
worked
his magic on an "Almost Home" guitar,. Crystalwood Creations has
designed
several stunning
stained-glass pieces especially for the Fur Ball, and there will be
gift baskets
for animal lovers from Nestle Purina. There will absolutely be
something for
everyone!
This
year’s program will feature the 604 shelter pets who found
forever homes in
2009. Tanner Crinnigan has created a moving video presentation showing
a lot of
happy endings. We’ll also provide an update on the building
plans. This is the
year that all our dreams for a new shelter will come true. By
year’s end, we’ll
be “Almost Home.”
More
than 750 people turned out for the
inaugural “Fur Ball” in 2009, and more than $75,000 was
raised to support the
shelter and the capital campaign, making it one of the most successful
charity
events in our area. This year promises
to be bigger and better, so get your tickets early. We’re
expecting a sell-out!
Please
join us on March 27 and help us
celebrate. Tickets are $15 per person or $25 per couple if purchased
ahead of
time, or $20 each at the door. You can get tickets at Hy-Vee in Fort
