Baby It's Cold Outside!  Cold Weather Tips for Pets

Although our four-legged family members have their own fur coats, they get cold in the winter, too.

Please don't leave your pets outside for extended periods of time, especially if they have not been acclimated to the cold weather.

Make sure they have plenty of water, and that it is not frozen. Eating snow of licking ice can drastically reduce your pet's internal temperature and result in hypothermia, dehydration and death.

Check your pet's paws regularly - they can become tender or sore from walking on snow and ice, especially if you use ice-melt or salt to clear your sidewalks.

Make sure your pet has shelter from the wind and cold, and plenty of food - cold weather burns extra calories.

Your best bet - bring your pet in the house. Snuggling on the couch with Rover will keep you both warm this winter.
