Summer Events are Big Successes
Our 17th annual dog walk, "Paws in the Park" was held on Sunday,
July 11 at Oleson Park. It was HOT, but at least it didn't rain.
There were probably 100 people and about that many dogs in
attendance, and we raised over $3,500 to support the shelter. Our
heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended, everyone who sponsored
their favorite dog walker, and everyone who helped make this event a
success. It was great fun, and, as usual, we met dozens of terrific
dogs and the wonderful people who are owned by them.
We can't wait to do it again next year!
Our first annual "Putts Fore Pets" was held on
Friday, July 16 at Lakeside Golf Course. It was a beautiful summer
day, and 16 teams of golfers hit, pitched and putted their way
around Lakeside. What a beautiful course, and what an asset to our
community!
Unfortunately, no one hit a hole in one, so Shimkat Motors took
their new car home, Kingsgate Health Solutions saved their $10,000
for another day, and no one won Troy Waller's new golf cart.
Lots of prizes were won, however, and it looked to me like everyone
had a great time. In case you're wondering, my team took last place.
We were so proud!
Thanks to our sponsors, our golfers, our volunteers and the staff
at Lakeside. Again, we can't wait to do it again next year!
